APSRTC earned Rs 209 crore income during Dasara

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has earned a revenue of Rs 209 crore by operating around 5,778 special bus services between October 9 and 22 from Hyderabad to various destinations for providing hassle-free journey to passengers during Dasara festival season.In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, APSRTC vice-chairman and managing director NV Surendra Babu said around 5.3 lakh passengers travelled through special bus services.
The buses operated from Hyderabad to cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Vijayawada between October 9 and 22.The corporation earned a revenue of Rs 194 crore, much lower than this year, during the same period in 2017, he said.
He also said that on October 22 alone, the APSRTC earned a record revenue of `21 crore with passenger occupancy ratio (OR) of 103 per cent.The Dasara season benefited the RTC as a majority of the passengers preferred the State-owned transport corporation over private bus operators.
On an average, 72,335 passengers per day booked their tickets through APSRTC official website www.apsrtconline.in during Navaratri, while on normal days 30,000 to 40,000 passengers utilised the online service, he added.
On the occasion, Roadways chairperson Varla Ramaiah thanked the staff, especially drivers, conductors, garage staff and supervisors for exercising their duties with commitment despite lack of facilities.
